Jody Forsyth-Oversby

In the mid 1990s Jody was guided to embark on the path of healing. She started off with Reiki level 1 & 2 under the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition then within a very short time she found herself enrolled in a full-time four-year Homoeopathy Medical Science program. Upon graduation in 2000 she travelled to Mumbai, India to work in a homeopathic teaching hospital for three months. The hospital would hold two free clinics a week that had long lines of patients with all kinds of maladies. The experience of working under master homeopaths during this time was priceless. She also participated in rounds, her favourite being in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Here she aided in assisting more than 35 births. Upon returning to Canada Jody set up practice in rural Manitoba as well as taking on a teaching/clinical position at the Manitoba College of Homeopathic Medicine (2001–2003).

It was in 2002 that Jody’s practice changed and she discovered her passion. She was acquainted with a modality called BodyTalk. She enrolled in a BodyTalk fundamentals course immediately. Since then many BodyTalk modules have been added to her bundle. The subtle flow of connecting into the client’s innate wisdom, following the client’s lead and restoring communication allows for rapid and gentle restoration of the body-mind complex. Jody is a certified member in good standing with the International BodyTalk Association (IBA).

In 1996 while studying homeopathy Jody worked in the office at NLP Manitoba. Here she completed level one Neuro Linguistic Programming as well as Core Transformation and Advanced Hypnosis (the Ericksonian tradition). She found that the programming of early childhood traumas held in a subconscious level could sabotage even the best intentions of positive thinking. Hypnosis and NLP are both wonderful keys to rewiring brain software but it was the simplicity of Psych-K that would convince Jody to pursue it. This modality can come up in a session if it is a priority. Have a listen to Bruce Lipton’s 12-minute explanation of how this modality works.

Jody considers herself a space holder who serves to bring her clients to their own awareness. The real healer lives inside each and every one of us. We just need the appropriate frequencies to unlock our creator-given ability to heal. Jody carries many helpers in her medicine bundle. She subtly aids her clients to find deep awareness, accept their roll in their own health and the means to take action and create positive change

Professionally, Peter comes from a decade of front line mental health work after graduating from Acadia University with a degree in applied psychology. He has witnessed many stories of resilience and trauma and has developed a series of skills revolving around active non-judgmental listening that he is carrying into a new practice of massage.

Peter has completed a 3000 hour massage therapy program with Kootenay Columbia College, which includes 600 hours spent in the Nelson student clinic. He is experienced in deep tissue massage, relaxation of the nervous system, and a variety of Swedish techniques.

Peter is currently in the process of becoming registered with the CMTBC and is unable to bill through insurance until this is completed. After a decade of witnessing cost related barriers to care, he is excited to use this as an opportunity to provide affordable service to a rural community, and to further his continuing education in the field of massage.

Peter is focused on providing inclusive, attentive care tailored to your particular needs. He is deeply interested in how stress is stored in the body and consciously cultivates a safe space to help you leave what you can on the table, while giving your body space to facilitate healing and reduce pain.

Peter would also like to acknowledgement the lack of support that caregivers receive within our communities. A temporary further reduction of rate is available for professional caregivers who do not have insurance, or individuals who are supporting family members with development needs or who are approaching the end of life.

After having kids commuting to Kaslo became unfeasible but he now has an offices in Slocan and New Denver treating people from Kaslo, Nakusp to Crescent Valley, Glade and beyond.

Brendan is a Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA). He received his B.A. from Bard College in New York and later graduated with honors from Pacific Rim College with an Acupuncture Diploma in Victoria B.C. He has done similar work locally at ANKORS in Nelson, and now runs a monthly sliding scale Community Pain Clinic at Raven Acupuncture. Brendan has an interest in treating trauma from a physical and emotional perspective which is what drew him to Chinese Medicine. His path to becoming a healer began after living in New Orleans Pre and Post Hurricane Katrina, wanting to help when there was no medical infrastructure in place.

Brendan is invested in helping to build a healthy community in the West Kootenays by making acupuncture an accessible treatment option for everyone. His commitment to accessibility means that he has provided his services for those on low-income or disability for free through MSP during a monthly Community Pain Clinic. He has treated thousands of people through a sliding scale during that clinic which is ever evolving and now includes Massage as well as Community Outreach RN who does wound care and STI testing.
